How long does indexing take?
Direct answer: There is no guaranteed timeline. A clean, linked page can appear in Bing within hours to a few days (especially with IndexNow). Google often takes days to weeks for new or low-authority URLs. “Indexed” means the engine stored the page — not that it ranks, and not that AI will mention you.
What “indexed” actually means
Discovery (sitemap or link) → crawl (bot fetches) → index (page stored). Each step can stall on robots blocks, soft-404s, orphans, thin duplicates, or crawl budget.
Google does not use IndexNow. The Indexing API is limited to JobPosting and BroadcastEvent — not ordinary blog or product pages. Practical path: XML sitemap in Search Console, strong internal links, fix noindex/canonical issues, use URL Inspection to check status (not as a mass-submit button).
Bing and partners
Verify Bing Webmaster Tools, submit the sitemap, host an IndexNow key file, and ping when URLs change. That can speed discovery for Bing and some IndexNow participants. ChatGPT’s browsing stack has historically leaned on Bing’s index plus OpenAI’s own crawler — allow OAI-SearchBot either way.
Honest ranges (directional)
- Bing + IndexNow, already-linked site: hours to a few days for many URLs.
- Google, new domain or orphan URL: days to several weeks; some URLs never get crawled.
- Re-crawl after a change: often faster than first discovery, still not instant.
Trendi’s Indexed work is fixing blockers and proving status in GSC/Bing — not selling “instant Google index”.
